Changes occur during 33th week of pregnancy

Baby's Development -

  • In these last few weeks before delivery, the billions of developed neurons in baby's brain are helping him or her to learn about the in-utero environment — baby can listen, feel, and even see somewhat.
  • Baby’s eyes can detect light and the pupils can constrict and dilate in response to light.
  • Like a newborn, baby sleeps much of the time.
  • Baby's lungs are almost completely matured.
  • Fat will continue to be deposited on baby's body for protection and warmth. Babies gain a good deal of their weight in the final few weeks before birth.

Woman's Body -

Woman's tummy button may be sticking out. Her breasts may start to leak colostrum in preparation for breastfeeding. This doesn't happen to everyone. Drinking plenty of water can help with fluid retention. Resting, with feet up, will help deal with the varicose veins and swollen ankles.

Woman will want to learn about the most commonly used techniques for pain relief during childbirth. These include breathing techniques, pain-relief medications given through injection, and epidurals.
